  6. Make Your Senior Year Count! ERWC & Math – Being successful in your Math and Language Arts classes will help you to prepare for your placement exams. Doing well on your placement tests can save you precious time and money by allowing you to start with the classes that count, not remedial classes. Check with each individual UC campus for Math placement test information. Colleges Can Rescind Admissions If you receive a D or an F during either semester of your senior year colleges who have sent your acceptance letters before the issuing of semester grades can rescind your admission. This most often happens with Language Arts and Math classes. However, selective schools or majors that are impacted can rescind admission for D’s and F’s in classes that are not required. 6

Students’ Rights and Responsibilities in the College Admission Process It is YOUR responsibility to:  Research your school of interest  Seek help early throughout the application process  Complete all application materials before the published deadline  Check your email and university portals often  Order official transcripts from the Registrar in a timely manner  Follow all instructions regarding placement tests  Call the admissions office for advice when you aren’t sure what to do next 7

  13. ASVAB Exam & Career Exploration Program Take the ASVAB Exam – TBA MUST Sign up in the Counseling Office! ASVAB Score Interpretation TBA The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is a comprehensive career exploration and planning program that includes a multiple‐aptitude test battery, an interest inventory, and various career planning tools designed to help you explore the world of work. The ASVSB is the most widely used multiple‐aptitude test battery in the world. ASVAB and the Military: Your ASVAB scores can also qualify you for certain jobs and training in the Armed Forces. If you are a junior or senior, you can use your ASVAB scores for military enlistment, including the Reserves and the National Guard, for up to two years after you take the test. There is no relationship between taking the ASVAB and Selective Service registration. ASVAB information is not made available to the Selective Service System. 13

  18. College Admissions Testing  SAT Reasoning : Used to measure verbal, math, and writing abilities.  ACT : Measures English, Math, Social Science, & Natural Sciences. May be used as an alternate to the SAT.  SAT Subject : Specific subject tests (i.e.- Social Sciences, Sciences, World Languages, etc.)  No longer required by UC schools but can be used to boost your application profile.  May be required as part of a supplemental application for the major you are applying to. Check with the major department of each campus you plan to apply to. Your last opportunity to test for Fall 2018 admission is December 2017 18
