Senior Season Information

  • WBA’s winter season has formally been cancelled for the senior competition
  • An upcoming Spring season will commence on Sunday 26th July and continue to

the end of 2020. CLICK HERE for playing dates

  • In 2021, senior competitions will continue as AUTUMN (January – June)

and SPRING (July – December)

  • Entry fees from winter will carry over to Spring for all teams who wish to
  • continue. Entry fees will increase for Autumn 2021.
  • Team Representatives must register to the WBA Spring season via the PlayHQ

portal CLICK HERE to register before the 6th July

  • Individual player registration to Basketball Victoria will continue as normal
  • Please note players 12 month annual PlayHQ registration will commence when the

competition season begins

  • All players must be registered to teams by the 10th July

Biosecurity Officer & New Procedures

  • STAY HOME if you are feeling unwell or showing

any cold / flu symptoms

  • No basketballs allowed inside facility
  • Team balls provided for warm up
  • Biosecurity officer and officials will ensure

equipment, score benches and player benches are cleaned between every game

  • Hand sanitizers available in foyers and score

benches

  • Players are encouraged to use these before,

during, and after playing

New Playing Conditions ORANGE 20

  • Maximum 7 players per team
  • Maximum 1 scorer/spectator per team
  • HOME Teams must provide one scorer for their game.
  • This is a mandatory playing condition, the HOME team is the first listed on

schedules and left hand side of scoring monitor and score board

  • No scorer = no play. Players cannot interchange as scorers
  • Player rotation per game is recommended if a scorer is unavailable
  • Schedules will be manually checked for evenness of home/away
  • BSO’s will confidentially collect scorer information for contact tracing purposes

  • Canteen closed Monday to Thursday
  • Water station closed
  • Uniform hire unavailable
  • High Fives and shaking hands banned
  • Team Representatives to assist making players aware their attitudes and

behaviours surrounding these habits need to change

  • ORANGE 20 – ORANGE 50 – GREEN 100
  • Junior competition returns at Orange 50 (50 people per court)
  • Senior competition returns at Orange 20 (20 people per court)
  • We do not know when restrictions will lift between the different levels
  • Certain competition changes will remain until green 100 and beyond

Mid-Week Scheduling Challenges

  • Games will run on 60 minute scheduling, an increase from the usual 45 minutes
  • CLICK HERE for Timing Rules
  • These will remain the same, however a 20-minute break will be allocated between all games
  • Game times have changed dramatically
  • Some competitions will change mid-season when Oakleigh Recreation Centre is available
  • Early start times at 6:20pm (previously 6:30pm)
  • Later final game start time at 10:20pm (previously 10:15pm)
  • Monday competitions mathematically cannot fit all teams
  • Therefore drastic measures will be required to run this competition
  • Monday Men must be willing to play one Sunday night until WBA has access to ORC
  • Monday Men will also have ‘double byes’ scheduled

Game Fees

  • Weekly Game Fees will increase to $75.00 per team, per game
  • Individual entry fees for spectators and players will be eliminated
  • Walkover Fines will also increase
  • Notified walkover (24 hours prior to match) $80.00
  • Un-notifed walkover $110.00
  • Failure to pay the following game will result in forfeits
  • Two un-notified walkovers consecutively or three walkovers in a season will result in

team withdrawal

  • Eftpos and cash facilities will be available
  • American Express not accepted
  • VISA and MASTERCARD transactions will incur a 1.5% transaction fee
  • Pre-payment options will not be available until 2021

Team Agreement and Spring Commitment

  • All teams must re-register to the new PlayHQ Spring Season
  • All Terms & Conditions have changed for the upcoming Spring, and therefore
  • CLICK HERE to Register by 6th July
  • All players must register by Friday 10th July
  • Team Representatives will receive a unique team link after registering that they must share with

their teammates

  • This unique team link can be used during the season, if any players join in the future
  • BV’s 12 month registration will not commence until the season start date
  • Requests will not be granted
  • Teams who request only Monday Night games for example will not be scheduled for Spring
  • Requests for no early or no late game times will not be granted
  • Teams who cannot accept these changes are advised to rest and return in Autumn 2021

Conclusion

  • Please be aware new rules and regulations may be subject to further

changes based on Government advice.

  • WBA recognises there are significant changes being made to all competitions

and we thank you for your understanding and patience while we work through the changes with our governing bodies

  • If teams cannot commit to these changes in the upcoming Spring season,

there are two options:

  • WBA holds teams $72.50 payment and teams will have priority to join in Autumn 2021

name, and bank information to request a refund
