  • Establish one provincial approach to plan and deliver health care services.

Saskatchewan Health Authority

  • There is a phased process to fully develop SHA’s organizational

structure:

  • Phase One: September to December 2017 (COMPLETE) – The senior leadership

structure announced in late September 2017 set the stage for subsequent

  • rganizational structure development. It was important to have senior leaders

involved in determining the needs for their portfolios for the next phase.

  • Phase Two: January to March 2018 (COMPLETE) – This phase determined all

Executive Director and some Director positions.

  • Phase Three: April 2018 – Executive Directors will determine the structural

needs of their teams to finalize the full out-of-scope organizational structure. This may take several months to conclude.

  • One of the strengths of our new system is the priority we have placed
  • n greater physician integration.
  • Our medical governance structure will ensure that physicians play an

active role in the design, implementation and operation of a system that is more integrated, efficient and patient-centred.

  • This structure will provide physicians with an opportunity to reach

new heights in quality improvement, increase efficiency, reduce duplication and enhance the patient experience across the continuum of care.

Physician Integration

slide-19
SLIDE 19

Saskatchewan Health Authority

  • The medical governance structure is based on dyad leadership that

partners physician leaders and administrative leaders in a complementary, decision-making relationship.

  • This partnership between a physician leader’s clinical expertise and

an administrative leader’s business expertise is a model proven to improve care in high-performing health systems across the world.

  • Through shared responsibility and accountability between physicians

and administrative leaders, we will find solutions to long-standing system issues.
