Maternal body mass index, gestational age and placental site explained little of the variation in temporal fetal movement counting patterns. Thus, a perceived decrease in fetal movement should not be attributed to a woman's basic pregnancy characteristics, but assessed as a potential marker

Pregnant women perceive fetal movements and can describe them in a relatively homogenous way throughout pregnancy that follows a general pattern of fetal growth and development.

Improved management of DFM and uniform information to women is associated with fewer stillbirths. The stillbirth rate among women with DFM fell during an intervention by almost 50% and by 30% in the entire group.

A mother living in Kansas City, who was given information from the CTKs campaign says:

"We had a bit of an emergency. Friday I came into triage because I hadn't felt her move all day. Her vitals were low and they discovered her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck four times. Also, I was way too far past due and the placenta had become too old to provide her nutrients. So we had an emergency c-section and she came into this world perfectly healthy! She is doing amazing and couldn't be healthier! My doctor said we saved her life by coming in on Friday. We are so thankful and feeling truly blessed."
