Additional opt in option, SLC Youth Employment Provision: • GradU8 (previously WWW) - 1 day at SLC, NCL or training providers (new S6) - National 4 level courses as follows (to be confirmed): Barbering Beauty Skills Construction Crafts Early Education & Education Engineering Skills Hairdressing Mental Health & Wellbeing Horticulture Hospitality Make Up Artistry Uniformed & Emergency Services - 2 SQA Awards offered: Skills for Work NPA or Skills for Work at Level 4 (tbc) - If selected this would be in addition to either 4 or 5 courses and be discussed on a per pupil basis. - Pupils express an interest on their option form/indicate which course. FOCUS WEST: Top Up, Reach, Access to Careers, Summer School Funded by South Lanarkshire Council • Organised by either University of Strathclyde or Glasgow University • Assist transition to first year at university • Around 8 sessions in school taken by experienced students/lecturers – note taking, essay writing, research skills • 1.5 days campus visits to be ‘a student’ • Can assist with university entry in terms of pointage/relaxation of a grade. Prefects/Captains/School Captains • To encourage responsibility • Leadership development • All S6 pupils invited to apply • Applications are read by Pupil Support staff and DHT S6 • Prefects appointed • Duties allocated • From Prefects, pupils are asked to apply to become House Captains/School Captains – interviews take place for these posts, SQA Leadership is a compulsory part of this role • Timekeeping & Attendance will influence appointment.   19. APPEALS The system has changed -If absent from an exam in May, evidence (your prelim) can be submitted for consideration for an award. This will only apply for exceptional circumstances. This system will not operate in August. -There is now a system called the Post Results Service, where in August if the school are of the view that a pupil has adversely underperformed eg. unexpectedly, the school can consider that a script be remarked by SQA. This service will not be available to all, only where it is felt there has been a discrepancy or very untoward result.
