RUSSIAN INFLUENCE TEAM

TEAM MISSION

• To take action to ensure that Congress exercises its oversight

role in establishing a truly independent investigatory entity free of partisanship, and with the authority to discover and reveal the truth.

• To call for a full and independent investigation into all ways

that the Russian government might have been able to exert undue or illegal influence on the Trump campaign, Trump transition team, and/or the Trump Administration.

TEAM MISSION (CONT)

• We are concerned with the erosion of public trust in the

federal government’s declarations concerning national security — a trust essential to appropriate and broadly supported national responses to threats both foreign and domestic.

• We believe the sole path to regaining that trust lies in a

complete, thorough, and nonpartisan investigation of the kind we outlined.

OUR FIRST ACTION

• We crafted a letter to the Senate and House Committees on

Intelligence expressing our concerns and calling for a full and independent investigation.

• The letters were signed by 124 members of HRI in late March.
• The letters, addressed to the Chair and the Ranking Member,

were delivered in person to all members of each committee in early April.

GOALS OF THE MARCH FOR TRUTH

• A special prosecutor must be named, an independent commission must be

established, and Congressional investigations should be properly resourced and pursued free of partisan interests;

• As much information should be made available to the public as possible,

and as soon as possible;

• Congress should require Donald Trump to release his tax returns to clarify

his business interests and obligations to any foreign entity;

• If crimes were committed or if collusion is discovered, it must be

prosecuted.

collaboration on initiatives focused on both Republican and Democratic lawmakers
