Manuscripts must demonstrate a clear contribution to contribution the field and to be relevant to the African context.

  2. African Journal of Psychological Assessment AJOPA serves as a means of combining the current disparate research being conducted as well as opening up opportunities for collaboration and indigenous knowledge production.

  3. African Journal of Psychological Assessment AJOPA seeks to interrogate the current Eurocentric and Western cultural hegemonic practices that dominate the field of psychological assessment.

  4. African Journal of Psychological Assessment Published in partnership with AOSIS, AJOPA is fully open access and charges no article processing fees (APC’s )

  5. The Editorial Team Sumaya Laher (PhD) is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of the Witwatersrand. She is the immediate Past President of PsySSA and is an Associate Editor on the South African Journal of Psychology (SAJP). Prof Laher is an NRF rated researcher whose research interests are in the areas of psychological assessment, culture and mental illness.

  6. The Editorial Team Solomon Mashegoane (PhD) is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Limpopo. Prof Mashegoane’s primary teaching areas at the university are psychological assessment and health psychology; and his research focuses on issues pertaining to psychological assessment, death-related anxiety, and investigations of factors associated with health risk behaviour (such as self-objectification and spirituality/religiosity).

  7. The Editorial Team Kate Cockcroft (PhD) is a Professor of Psychology at the University of the Witwatersrand. She is an NRF-rated researcher who is interested in neurocognitive and dynamic assessment. A particular interest is the promise of working memory assessments as a means of tapping the cognitive abilities and potential of children and adults from diverse socio-economic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

  8. The Editorial Team David Maree (PhD) is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Pretoria where he was Head of Department from 2013 to 2016. He was chair of the Psychometrics committee of the Board of Psychology of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in 2016/17 and President of PsySSA in 2013. He is a NRF rated researcher and his interests include psychometrics, Rasch modelling, philosophy of psychology and research methods.

African Journal of Psychological Assessment Criteria Manuscripts that make a clear contribution to the field in ethics in assessment, the establishment of the psychometric properties of an instrument, methods in assessment, research on core issues in psychological assessment (e.g. assessment in low resource settings, multicultural assessment, acculturation and assessment, language and assessment, assessing people with disabilities) amongst others are invited.

  12. African Journal of Psychological Assessment Criteria Manuscripts can also focus on specific areas in assessment (e.g. cognitive, personality, vocational, intelligence, aptitude) and/or particular settings (clinical, educational, forensic, organisational, and neuropsychological assessment).
