  • Constructed 1964-1967
  • 17 span high level bridge, 847 m long
  • Carries 2 lanes on N-S oriented traffic
  • Steel girders, concrete deck
  • 5 continuous spans, 6 expansion joints
  • 1992-dual columns replaced with single shaft at 3 piers

Deck:

  • Extensively deteriorated (corrosion)
  • Substandard barrier walls
  • Substandard lane width

Girders:

  • Many fatigue prone details
  • general coating failure

Substructure:

  • Generally sound except Pier 14 (beneath EJ)
  • Minor scour at Pier 13 footing
  • Abutments cannot accommodate widening
