Processing

After shipment arrives, Battelle logs and barcodes respirators. Visual inspection of all N95s for damage and soiling from blood, bodily fluids,

  • r makeup.

After decontamination, the masks are marked to keep track of the number of times they have been decontaminated. Shipment form included with every return shipment, which includes the number of N95s successfully decontaminated. Point of contact will be notified that masks have been decontaminated and are ready for return transport via chosen transport method.

decontaminated by Battelle (“primary collection bag”) should be closed

  • Place the primary collection bag into another bag (“secondary

collection bag”), which is then closed

  • Decontaminate the secondary collection bag with alcohol or other

suitable decontaminant

  • Place the decontaminated bags into a rigid, closed box clearly

labeled with a biohazard symbol, and tape the box securely shut

  • Label the outside of the box with the 3-digit site code and 2-digit

location identifier

disposed of after 20 decontamination cycles 2. Visible damage or soiling

discarded and not reused if visually damaged
