  • verall monitoring system.

RCC activities in Road Safety

  • Improvement of road safety standards has been identified as one of

priorities in the RCC Strategy and Work Programme 2014-2016 and the SEE 2020 Strategy.

  • RCC contributes to the promotion of road safety by supporting

implementation of relevant EU directives. To this aim, RCC promotes a multisectoral approach alongside the inclusion of different level stakeholders due to the complex nature of road accidents and many different sectors involved in the operation of road safety.

  • RCC developed proposal of the training curriculum for road safety

auditors and inspectors in accordance with EC Directive 2008/96, with the support of BiH Ministry of Communications and Transport and Association of Consulting Engineers BIH.

The way forward

  • RCC intends to support and closely work with national

administrations and regional structures, especially in light of implementation one of the SEE 2020 Strategy targets - to improve road safety standards.

  • Help the region in overcoming difficulties it currently faces by

promoting consensus among the SEE countries and through raising awareness on critical road safety issues on the SEE Comprehensive Transport network.

  • Continue to promote regional approach towards the uniform

application of EU road safety legislation.

  • As a follow-up of the Berlin’s Conference and its Declaration, EC

prepared Non-paper on Connectivity in the WB and RCC will be engaged in the implementation of the Berlin agenda.
