Hauraki Trail

Welcome to Hauraki Rail Trail

We Drive to Waihi then ride the 25km spectacular Karangahake Gorge to Paeroa. Paeroa to Kopu is a 26km jaunt on a flat rail trail followed by a decision to ride 7 km to Thames find Coffee or Pub then Minibus to Miranda OR turn left then 24km road ride to Miranda for a last night soak in the hot pools (The bike trail Kopu to Miranda might be finished).

Staying at the Snowy Waters Lodge – previous district Nurses lodge Ride: Drive riders 30km to Turoa via Ohakune Ride in 2 groups 16km down the Ruapheu Mountain (1600M to 500M), then 14Km to Horopito (climbing on railway gradient 180M) then, 20km to Raetihi via Middle Road.   • Are you coming to New Zealand with SARCC 2016?

If you are coming there are decisions we would like you to take prior to joining

  • us. This is for better logistics planning, you will be able to change

along the way e.g. you might be over-challenging yourself and need a

  • break. We cannot guarantee that we can honour all changes because

we don’t have a vehicle per person. This is a DIY Recreational Cycling Tour and Cycling will be our focus. There are great walks available, default is to travel or drive a minibus; maybe just stay at camp.

  • You are required to be in residence with your bicycle at Manukau Top

Your tour fees for accommodation starts with Friday night 19th. You will all be equipped with Auckland Maps before the Tour.
