Concrete Applic ications

  • How did concrete help?

– Nightly installation of new in-pavement lights

  • 43 lights and 5,300 LF of conduit trench in runway and taxiway

pavement

  • Runway open to traffic the next morning
  • Specified 2000 psi compressive strength at 6:00 am

– New full strength runway pavement for 3’ centerline shift of Runway 15R-33L

  • 400 LF of 24” thick new pavement section
  • Originally designed for construction during 54-hour closure,

ultimately constructed in nightly segments

  • Phasing would not have been possible without the

use of concrete.
