Project Information

  • WIS 79 is a rural minor arterial highway that provides a

north/south route for the Dunn County communities of Connorsville, Boyceville and Sherman.

  • Average of 1,800 vehicles per day.
  • WIS 79 crosses over Coon and Clack creeks between the

village of Boyceville and its terminus with US 12.

  • Existing structures were constructed in 1936.
  • Structures are made of concrete decking supported by

steel beams and a timber-pile substructure.

  • Last significant bridge repair was done in 1987.

Proposed Improvements

  • 1. Bridge – construct new bridge consisting of a

concrete deck and structural support elements.

a. Railing will be solid concrete parapet wall. b. Width of bridge will be widened by 4 feet.

  • 2. Roadway – reconstruct asphalt roadway approaches

to each bridge, replace existing guardrail, replace pavement markings and signs.

a. Roadway alignment will match existing. b. Change in roadway vertical profile is anticipated: i. Raise of approximately 1.5 feet at Coon Creek crossing. ii. Raise of approximately 2 feet at Clack Creek crossing. iii. Change in elevation needed to install standard concrete railing.
