  3. Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) Character & • PSLE is a placement exam Citizenship Education • Gives relative standing of pupils • Enables posting to secondary schools by Partnership merit • Pupils placed in the most suitable stream based on results 3

Absence from PSLE • Official Medical Certificate, time of visit to doctor and Character & diagnosis Citizenship Education • Make-up only for Oral Examinations (venue: SEAB) • Absence from other papers: pupils’ preliminary Partnership results and even P6 SA1 and P5 SA1 & SA2 results taken into consideration Further details will be given in the PSLE information booklet for candidates 10

Reporting Progress • Feedback on your child’s progress for students in P6 Character & will be given in the Term 1 School Report Card for Citizenship Education Class Reviews. • SA1 and Preliminary Examination will be reported in the Holistic Development Profile (School Report Partnership Book) and you will receive them in Term 2 and in early Term 4 after the Preliminary Examinations. • Each assessment will be taken as 100% weighting 11

  12. EXPRESS APPRECIATE Release of PSLE Results - Likely to be during 1 st week of the year-end Character & Citizenship Education holidays (23 – 27 Nov 2020) Release of Posting Results & Reporting to Sec School Partnership - Likely to be during the week before Christmas (13 – 18 Dec 2020) 12

PSLE Aggregate Score Subject grade reflects pupil’s performance in Character & each subject (A*- E, Ungraded) Citizenship Education Aggregate score shows pupil’s overall performance in the exam (e.g. 189, 242…) Partnership • Aggregate score = sum of T-Scores of 4 subjects • Each of the 4 subjects carries the same weighting in the computation of the Aggregate score 13

  14. What is T-Score? Aggregate Score = sum of T-Scores of 4 subjects Character & Citizenship Education Mark for each subject is converted to a transformed score - T-Score • Reflects the pupil’s standing relative to the other pupils in the subject Partnership • The raw mark obtained in the exam only shows the individual’s performance in that subject, not how the pupil has performed compared to others. 14

  15. Computation of Aggregate Score • The aggregate score does not include Higher Character & Mother Tongue. Citizenship Education • Computation of the aggregate score takes into account: Partnership - the difference in demand between Standard and Foundation subjects - the number of examinable subjects taken 15

CHIJ Affiliation Policy • CHIJ (Katong) Primary is affiliated to CHIJ Katong Convent (KC) Character & Citizenship • To enjoy affiliation, Education - KC must be indicated as first choice - Child must have an aggregate score of 200 and above to be eligible for the Express stream in KC Partnership - If child has aggregate score below 200 , please opt for Normal(Academic) stream to enjoy affiliation priority • Offer Art and Drama as an elective at the ‘O’ Levels 17

  18. School Affiliation Policy Our P6 Girls choosing Katong Convent (at Marine Terrace) for Secondary 1. Character & Citizenship Education From 2019: Katong Convent Sec 1 Intake: 80% Affiliates and 20% Non-Affiliates Partnership For the past 3 years, Our P6 Girls make up about 50% (About 115 Girls from 2019 cohort) of Katong Convent Sec 1 Cohort (made up of 7 Classes)

  19. Entering a secondary school 1. PSLE/S1 Posting • Based on a student’s PSLE score • Most students enter secondary schools this way 2. DSA-Sec • Based on a diverse range of talents and achievements in specific academic subjects or non- academic areas, beyond what the PSLE recognises • Allows students to access school programmes to develop their talents 19
