History Wha t is Road Tennis? Social sport that can be played by anyone and opened to all! Originated in Barbados in 1930’s Requires no offjcial uniform (play what you’re comfortable in) Become the most exciting version of tennis and is played by people from all social classes, age groups, gender, race, and religion Ideal for schools, camps and parks E O F D B I R I M P est. 2000
Rules The CoURT MUST be played on a fmat surface 10 ft Court is 21ft long x 10ft wide 8 in There are two 6ft governing lines at both ends. Net is 8in high and 12ft long 21 ft 6 ft Our courts’ playing area is painted green with white lines outlining the play area E O F D B I R I M P est. 2000
Rules Scoring First player to reach 21 by a 2 point advantage - Wins Score is called at the start of the game and after each point. Player has 20 seconds to serve the ball, AFTER the score is called If opponent is not ready to receive serve, they must indicate by show of hand. Players must switch sides when the score reaches 10 in Single’s Elimination Tournaments O E F D B I R I M P est. 2000
Rules Points 1 Point is added when: Ball land’s outside the court without landing on the opponent’s side Receiving player hits the ball before it lands on his/her side Ball strikes the net and fails to cross to the other side Ball bounces twice on the opponent’s side of the court If the ball hits the net during a serve or goes out of the court, point is awarded to the receiver. Rules Officials A match is offjciated by a referee and 4 lines offjcials. Match referee is in charge to make fjnal decisions Line offjcials are place in view of the line and make out calls for or against players Referee announce the score at the start of the game “Love-All” E O F D B I R I M P est. 2000
