  • n 10 HBCU campuses.

 In 1998, HBCUs were designated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of the nation’s most endangered sites.  A government study estimated $755 million was needed to restore 712 historic properties on HBCU campuses. That’s over $1 billion in today’s dollars.  Congress is poised to pass $5 million - $10 million for the HBCU Historic Preservation Program until 2023.

Currently we have support for this initiative only in the House, and need your Senators to support at least a $5 million appropriation in the final bill.
