  8. Need for new engineering building • Tennessee Tech is truly a STEM university: six of our top 10 undergraduate programs are STEM disciplines and nearly 40 percent of our undergraduate students are in a STEM field, with 28 percent of our total undergraduates in the College of Engineering. • The College of Engineering currently serves more than 2,700 students, a 52 percent increase over the last 10 years. • And it is not just enrollment. 10. Need for new engineering building • Tech’s College of Engineering is housed in 8 buildings across campus, the most recent being built in 1971, and all, despite spot renovations and upgrades, reaching the end of their life cycle. • Current buildings provide 206,000 assignable square feet. Based on the college’s current size, more than 257,000 square feet are needed, leaving a deficit of more than 51,000 square feet to meet current needs. And more than 100,000 square feet will be needed when considering projected growth of the college. 10
