FROM RAID TO THE US NAVAL AVIATION The story of SEA AIR LAND started in 2005 when the RAID (France’s Federal Swat) made an order. Perfectly adapted to the very special needs of military professionals, these watches entirely satisfied these brave demanding men of honour. MATWATCHES (MER AIR TERRE / SEA AIR LAND) earned a legitimacy as they were worn on the field Impressed with the high quality of these watches that were exclusively designed for them, other unit requested their taylor-made series. More recently in 2013, the french Foreign Legion has officially entrusted SEA AIR LAND to develop a Limited Edition to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Camerone fight. (1863 – 2013) No details are left aside and once again dedication to quality and « members only » policy made them choose MATWATCHES. In 2015, the French watchmaker has developed a UTC flight instrument with and for the US Naval Aviation pilots. MATWATCHES has now stepped quietly into the civilian world keeping high up its standards of sturdiness, high legibility and disretion. US NAVAL AVIATION JERRY « LEEKSTER » LEEKEY With more than 30 years of military and civilian flight operation experience, Jerry "Leekster" Leekey has been doing what he loves for most of his life. Beginning his career in corporate aviation, he was later selected to be a US Navy F-14 Tomcat Fighter Pilot. During this time, he participated in several combat deployments and accumulated more than 400 carrier landings. As part of a Naval Postgraduate Program, Leekster received invaluable training in aircraft accident investigation and human factors mitigation. He is currently employed at a major airline as a 777 pilot and is also the founder/owner of a company that focuses on digital checklist development and human factors safety consulting for multiple high risk industries all over the world. His passion for aviation and his life experiences are expressed in the design of these new MATWATCHES timepieces - they are truly an expression of his desire to create the quintessential pilot wrist watch.
