Director’s Notes PR Band Student Online Learning Hello all PR band students and parents, We hope you are all safe and feeling well during these unprecedented times! We have created a website to streamline instruction and information to all our students. Please access it often and check out your class page and the resources page for tips on MASKS practicing and other musical items. UP! Save or bookmark the link for easy access: https://sites.google.com/pinerichland.org/prband2020alternativelearning/home Our main expectation is quoted on the homepage: “Make and listen to meaningful music each day and let us know about it.” Students must use their PR email account to log their musical experiences through the button on the homepage. It is best to view the site on a computer or by using the Desktop site view on a phone. You may receive this message in duplicate today in our attempt to reach everyone. Hope to see you soon! Mr. Scott and Mr. Stillwagon

  6. Operations Updates on Activity UPDATE New Uniforms for 2020-2021 › Design artwork had been produced and approved and a sample uniform was being made for school board approval before production could begin. Due to the pandemic, all uniform production has been halted. We will have to wear our old faithful uniforms for one more year! Unfortunately, nothing we can do about that. CHANGES Dance Team, Color Guard, Drum Major, and Drumline Tryouts › Dance team, color guard, drum major, and drumline tryouts will be altered this year. Updated info will be communicated soon.

  7. Operations Updates on Activity Trailer Replacement › New trailer is complete and being outfitted with specific interiors and custom graphics for the band. Utility Cart Acquisition › Acquisition of yet-to-be-named utility cart for band use is in the works. Blake Briski Eagle Scout Project: Band Room Improvements › Remodeling the tuba/drum shelves and replacing the plastic ceiling tiles with acoustic ceiling tiles/sound absorbing panels. › A $1,400 donation from PRBB to finance the project was approved at the March 2, 2020, meeting. Any leftover donations will be returned to PRBB. › Funds will go towards materials required for the project, such as ceiling tiles, lumber, carpet, nails, and paint. › Construction was to begin by the end of March/beginning of April but was put on hold due to recent events. Despite these setbacks, Blake still plans to complete the work when permitted.

  9. Spring Band Trip April 30 through May 3 Louisville, KY and Cincinnati, OH › Fantastic Participation this Year! Over 230 students were scheduled to go on the band trip this month, that’s Spring Band Trip almost everybody! Kentucky Derby › Sadly, No Saddle Needed! Unfortunately, as you all “Pegasus Parade” know, due to the Coronavirus pandemic , the Kentucky Derby was postponed, and Pennsylvania schools have Great Wolf Lodge been closed for the remainder of the school year. Cincinnati Obviously, our trip had to be cancelled. We are all terribly disappointed by this news. We are thinking of King’s Island our seniors, especially, as this was to be their final PR Amusement Park band trip. › Trip Refund Communications! Sign up for texts in Charms to receive any trip refund updates. (Next slide includes latest communication from our treasurer). › Questions? Please direct questions to Mr. Scott or PRBB Treasurer, Geoff Meyer, at prbbmoney@gmail.com.

  10. Spring Band Trip Trip Refund Message from the Treasurer Email message from April 13, 2020 Spring Band Trip Greetings PR Band Parents . I hope everyone is coping well with our new normal. I know I speak for the vast majority of the band family that we are simply crushed that so many spring events have had to be cancelled especially for our Seniors. I know many of you are wondering about refunds for the Louisville trip, so I wanted to make sure we stay in communication to keep you informed on progress. I am going to separate the messages below into "insured" and "uninsured" because there are different plans depending on if you purchased the insurance. Please see below: Insured: Anyone that purchased the optional insurance will receive a full refund for their trip costs paid. I have received the check from the travel agent and am waiting for it to clear before issuing checks but should be able to get started on them this week. Nearly half of the band purchased insurance so there are a lot of checks to write and mail. Uninsured: For those that did not purchase insurance we are working with the travel agent to get as much money back as possible, but we do not expect to be able to issue a full refund. Because any refunds we are able to provide will be paid by refunds from deposits with various companies, we are in a waiting game as the travel agent is working with each company to recover our money. As you can imagine, those companies are also trying to resolve deposits with other clients, so we have to be patient. Please know that our travel agent is doing his best to get as much back as possible. Due to PRUBO regulations, PRBB will not be able to make up any difference on partial refunds. I will communicate to everyone again when I have more information. Again, I want to thank everyone for their patience while we work through refunds. If you have specific questions, you can reach me at prbbmoney@gmail.com. Thanks and stay safe! Geoff Meyer

  11. Treasurer Notes › Current Cash Balance as of April 1, 2020 is $92,473.42 Treasurer’s Report › Outlook for the rest of the Fiscal Year: › With all major activities including the trip cancelled we will carry over a larger balance to next year than we normally Geoff Meyer, Treasurer would. › Potential Expenses Remaining: › 2020 Drill Master Marching Routine - ~$1,000 › Motorized Band Cart - ~$2,000 › Trip Refunds › Insured – Checks should be out within a week or so. › Uninsured – No timeline. Most of the vendors we had deposits with are either closed or furloughed and are not answering calls or emails. Please be patient! EMA is doing their best. › Senior Recognition › With our normal senior recognition events cancelled we are hopeful that we will be able to do something over the summer to recognize the seniors. If we can, we will make it as special as possible.
