Where does she get her inspiration? “ Anything and everything. The first line of The Forest of Hands and Teeth came to me after I read an article about the possibility of overfishing tuna. Opinion/Recommendation • Plot underdeveloped • Characters not- believable – Is at first realistic – In the beginning… • Story of a plagued world • Mary seemed real – Which can happen • Only wanted • BUT, flawed – True love – Townspeople forget – Real, authentic life past and think they ’ re – Answers from the only humans in Sisterhood the world – Halfway through the – Eventually, feels novel… manipulated/forced • Mary sometimes loses • Events don ’ t unfold touch with reality naturally • Choosing “ ocean ” over “ life ” 1/6/2014 8
