Our Project

slide-10
SLIDE 10

Scenario

Parents were shocked to find out that excessive use of touchscreen devices like i-pads and smartphones can hamper a child‘s development and lead to many harmful effects. Our group chose to work on task 3 as it allows us to design and invent a toy/game.

slide-11
SLIDE 11

Task 3- Design & Invent ‘Go Green’

  • To help parents save cost by designing and creating a

safe, low-cost educational toy game for children to play with.

  • Our game is also environmentally friendly and cost

effective as we used mostly recyclable materials to create our game.

  • Our game is aimed to develop a healthy lifestyle.
slide-12
SLIDE 12

Why are we doing this project?

  • Make our own game
  • Try something different to challenge ourselves.
  • To achieve school’s Vision, Mission and Values
  • To develop the 3Cs (curiosity, confidence and

cooperation)

Our targets

Our targets are: 1. Enjoy our project work.

  • 2. Finish the project on time.
  • 3. Make a fun game so that others will be

interested to play.

  • 4. Score an average of A for project work

SLIDE 24

Survey

From the games that we came up with, we decided to do a survey. The survey had 2 questions. 1) What is your favourite game? 2) Why is it your favourite game? The Top 3 Games are: 1) Maze 2) Snake and Ladder 3) Pick-up Sticks & Chapteh (Tie) Most students like the games because it is exciting!

slide-25
SLIDE 25

Choosing our game

  • We decided to choose Chapteh because other

groups were doing ‘Maze’ and ‘Snake & Ladder’.

  • We chose Chapteh over Pick-up Sticks because

Chapteh is more exciting!

slide-26
SLIDE 26

Modifying our Game

Modification Reason/s for modification Using hands to throw instead of legs to kick. We did it because we felt that not everyone can play ‘Chapteh’ especially the younger children Included a score system Increase the challenge Change from a traditional ‘Chapteh’ to a paper ball. Recyclable material

In the end, we came up with our modified ‘Chapteh’. We named it the ‘Paper Ball Toss’ game!

slide-27
SLIDE 27

Criteria setting

S/N Criteria C1 The game has to be safe. C2 The game has to be educational. C3 The game has to be low cost. C4 The game should be made of as much recycled materials as possible. C5 The game has to be fun and enjoyable

SLIDE 31

Why is our project innovative?

  • Our project is innovation because we thought of different ways to use

recycled materials and put them to good use.

  • We also came up with the changes to the game by ourselves.
  • We were also able to modify the game so that everyone can play our game.
  • Lastly, our project is cost-saving because we used recycled materials.

Problems and Solutions

Problems Solutions

We do not know what game/toy to make. We asked our teacher for help and he gave us some guiding questions. He told us to think about some of the games/toys we like. We quarrelled and cannot work well together. Mr Shahrin and Mr Daniel asked us what our goal was and does quarrel help us achieve our goal. They also told us to take a time out from doing

  • ur project.

In the end, we managed to work together to finish the project. The paper ball kept

  • pening

and was too light Mr Daniel gave us some hint on how to keep the paper ball together and add some weight. We figured that the solution was tape. Using tape to wrap the paper also added some protection to the balls. We were scared that we will forget what to say for

  • ur

presentation. Mr Daniel and Mr Shahrin told us to write our scripts and bring them home to practice. We did not know what to type for our presentation Mr Shahrin guided us through the process. We did not know how to make

  • ur design nicer.

We asked our teachers and friends for ideas.

Impact on Stakeholders

Stakeholders Reflection Group Members We were happy that we were able to finish the project and the presentation during project work. We enjoyed our project work. People who played our game Our friends and teacher gave us feedback that our game is fun, and they were interested to play it. Teacher Facilitators (Mr Daniel and Mr Shahrin) We are very proud of Team Banana. We are glad that they enjoyed project work and designed a fun to play game for all ages. Team Banana showed great resilience during project work. Keep it up! Our parents Our parents are very proud of our work. They think we did a wonderful job.

slide-38
SLIDE 38

Impact to School

  • We have met all our targets and completed a successful project work.
  • Our targets have also met the school’s vision, mission and values.
  • Our school’s goals with regards to Project Work are as follows:

85% of pupils to attain at least a ‘C’ grade in Project Work 80% of pupils to attain at least a ‘B’ grade in Project Work 80% of pupils to attain at least a ‘B’ grade for applying thinking skills

  • As we have achieved an A grade for all components of project work,

we have contributed to our school’s goals for Project Work.

Future Plans

slide-42
SLIDE 42

To ensure that our project keeps getting better, we can

  • Conduct a survey on how to improve to other P3 kids in other

schools.

  • We can search for better recycled materials to make our game,

so that it will be more durable.

  • We can learn from our mistakes.
  • Conduct a survey yearly to see if students still think our game is

still fun.

  • Research on ways to improve on our game.
