Validation/calibration assessment area of state/pressure relationship Assessment scales: 2=elementary habitats (EUNIS 4-5)= BH2+1 Fig.2: Theoretical principle of an assessment/monitoring area, for specific pressure and habitat types. Scale and spatial pattern may vary from meters (stake, beach) to kilometres (bay, gulf), depending of the type of pressure and habitat distribution and pattern. Monitoring frequencies must be adapted to the ecological and disturbance (pressure) characteristics.
