The Creative & the Elective Curriculum Creative Curriculum • Replicates WES curriculum which has been in place for 8 years • Focus upon creativity, teamwork, resilience, personal reflection • As well as focussing on the Expressive Arts through links with Royal Opera House’s ‘Trailblazer’ project

  19. • During Monday P6 time • Opportunity to study topics not part of the ‘normal’ curriculum. • Pupils will have an element of choice • In other schools running similar programmes, topics include: – Journalism – Astrology – Photography – Entrepreneurship – Sports Leadership – Art History – Global Politics – Sign Language

Extra - Curricular • Trips & Visits – e.g Team building events at the Nuclear Races in October, Humanities trip to London, English trip to the Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, West End Performance • Full range of extra – curricular clubs across the week • Pupil leadership opportunities – numerous and will be developed with the pupils

Links with William Edwards • Some shared staffing & training • Replicating the core systems and structures • Curriculum modelled on WES Curriculum with strong department links • Curriculum development days at WES • Use of specialist facilities as necessary. e.g Drama Studio, Dance Studio, Music Mac Labs etc

McGrane • Safeguarding and Anti-Bullying Policy are on the Orsett Heath website to view • Support systems of William Edwards replicated including student support systems and confidential email access

  23. Behaviour & Rewards • Behaviour Policy is on the Orsett Heath website to view • High expectations of our pupils and staff • Clear structure to both behaviour and rewards • Parents / guardians a central part of both, with high levels of communication

  25. Transition • Visits to primary schools • Parent coffee mornings • SENCo afternoon drop in • Induction Evening the week prior to Induction Week • 1-2-1 meetings with SENCo or DSL where needed • High levels of communication and updates over the next few months
