CMAR 1 – Reservoir Clearing

  • Clearing continued to progress on properties that NTMWD owns and CMAR has

access to.

  • Contractor has cleared all of what is available in the original clearing plan.
  • Approximately 3,700 acres cleared to date.
  • Additional 700 acres to be cleared once all properties are obtained
  • Fence clearing (removed 100,000 LF of 200,000 LF) and pond demolition continues.

CMAR 1 – Dam Construction

  • First structural concrete pour for intake tower structure completed last month (1,100

cubic yards; 8-foot thick foundation slab).

  • Fill placement continues.
  • Completed 130,000 cy - some days 13,000 cubic yards total fill installed.
  • Backfill of Honey Grove Creek near completion.
  • Excavation of intake conduits and service spillway near completion. Mud slabs

started.

  • Intake conduit pipes to be delivered and installation to take place in March 2019.

CMAR 1 – Dam Construction Schedule Update

  • Dam construction currently 113 days behind contract dates for substantial

completion.

  • Latest delay letter indicated 69 days due to water inundation.
  • Negotiations ongoing to validate the exact number.
  • Schedule update shows impoundment starting on 10/19/2020 based on 113 days.

Program schedule date is 11/2020.

  • Recovery schedule from AW and dam construction contractor due by 2/28/19.
  • Additional crews, shifts, and equipment will be added.
  • 2 major areas needing recovery include fill placement and concrete.

Mitigation Projects – Riverby

  • Tree planting continued in Section 1 forested wetland and upland deciduous forest areas.
  • 1,100,996 trees planted to date.
  • Continued fence removal in Section 3 – removed 150,0000 LF of 375,000 LF.
  • Mobilizing to harvest trees with root balls intact for woody structures used in stream

restoration.

  • Trees coming from 268-acre reserved clearing site in the reservoir footprint.
  • Continued working on stream restoration. Focused on Ragsdale Creek (Reach 16)
  • Started installation coir matting.
  • Received deliveries and stockpiled boulders for installation.

Mitigation Projects – Schedule

  • Riverby currently ahead of schedule. Pending weather and other outside impacts,

RES intends to complete initial tree plantings at Riverby--just under 5M trees--by the end of the next planting season in April 2020.

  • Stream construction on schedule at Riverby.
  • Work at the Upper Bois d’Arc Mitigation Site will begin in August 2020.
  • Initial construction effort at all locations anticipated to be complete by February 2023.
  • 2019 - Start of 20-year monitoring and reporting to USACE/TCEQ/TWDB.

  • Covers a “regularly scheduled open meeting that is not a work session or a

special called meeting;…”

  • Representative Leach indicated he is willing to limit the legislation to full

board meetings and not include committees.

  • Does not require streaming.
  • Representative Leach asked for the District’s feedback and input .
  • We requested the proposed bill to require audio only
  • Bill was filed on February 26 without changes from the proposed language.
