About the Conference… Opportunity to hear about recording activity across the region Get involved with new/different recording schemes Find out more about what ERIC North East does, what we’ve been up to over the past year and how you can get involved Launch of Northumbria Mammal Group’s ‘Mammals, Reptiles & Amphibians of the North East’ publication

For anyone who doesn’t know… We work with recorders and recording groups to collate wildlife records and habitat data for the region Provide this information to those who need it for nature conservation purposes Promote wildlife recording across the region • Funded through grants, service level agreements and fees from one-off data requests

From April 2011 – March 2012: Informed 25 conservation projects / plans / reports… …in addition to regular updates to inform the work of Natural England & the Environment Agency Informed 10 University research projects Informed 337 planning applications Provided five local authorities with regular data updates to inform their work

  10. Other work in 2012… Continuously working on improving data management and quality: Improved validation & verification procedures Worked with consultants’ to improve our service to them

  11. Plans for next year… Association of Local Environmental Records Centres (ALERC) accreditation • • Small grant scheme • Work with more local authorities in the region to ensure decision making is based on the most up-to-date data

  12. Plans for next year… Develop our Wildlife Club Improve our geodiversity and marine data holdings Improve our online recording facility for casual records
