Resilient NJ Overview • Identify and address gaps in flood resiliency planning within selected regions; • Reach underserved populations, ensure representation and participation from socially vulnerable populations, and address their needs and risks; • Develop innovative and implementable solutions that increase flood resilience in both the short- and long-term;

  4. Resilient NJ Overview • Implement or advance prioritized actions that will reduce the risk of flood-related hazards to the region; • Enhance the value and integrity of the ecological, recreational, and economic resources in the regions; • Ensure collaboration among a wide variety of stakeholders.

Program Support What is this Funding Opportunity? • 501(c)3 Organizations • Research, guidance documents, tool development, trainings, communication materials or campaigns or other efforts that directly support regional resiliency planning in New Jersey • Enhance existing resources, tools, or methodologies, or create new resources that expand the knowledge or capabilities for local or regional resilience planning efforts in New Jersey • Not tied directly to the work of Regional Teams

  7. Program Support Eligible Categories • Engagement of Socially Vulnerable Populations • Ecological Enhancement or Restoration • Risk Communication • Adaptation and Mitigation Financing • Innovative Resiliency Planning Program Support

  8. Program Support Available Funds • $250,000 total is available • $20,000 minimum award • $100,000 maximum award • Up to 8 awardees chosen • No guarantee that a proposal will be chosen in every category

  9. Project Timeline February 2019 Program Support Application Released Summer 2021: May 2022: Activities must Action Plans are finalized be completed Early 2020: Phase 1 Kick-off Apply Phase 1: Plan Phase 2: Act Summer 2021: Phase 2 begins May 21, 2018 Regional Team Application Released

  10. Geography • No specific geographic area necessary • Must inform regional resilience planning throughout the nine counties designated Most Impacted and Distressed from Superstorm Sandy by HUD • Projects designed to benefit a specific geographic region outside of this area may be ineligible

  11. What can the funds be used for? • Personnel (salaries/fringe benefits) • Other direct costs (e.g., supplies, printing, mailings, public notice publication, travel) • Indirect costs (Indirect costs and fringe benefits should be estimated using an approved negotiated cost agreement. Entities that do not have such an agreement can elect to charge a de minimis rate at 10% of modified total direct costs.) • Projects must comply with HUD requirements for “Planning-Only Activities”
