REQUIREMENTS

HOURS LOGS SEMESTER 2

• Semester 1 hours are due by Jan. 19th for review
• In the event you did not complete requirements, they will be

tacked on to Semester 2, and you are in a “probation” status meaning you are in jeopardy of not being formally inducted (seniors- invite to induction/tassels etc, renewing members- may be dropped as a member for this year..) at the March ceremony. You will need to have proof all hours prior to the deadlines.

• Semester 2: Seniors and NEW inductees- 5 hours due by Feb.

28th, 2 more hours (7 total) due May 23. 2 contests minimum.

• Renewing: 7 hours by May 23, 2 contests minimum.

CONTESTS FOR SEMESTER 2

• See handout.
• Feel free to pursue contests that are art related that you find on your own, please see me if you have
• ne in mind.
• Email me at livotiartpics@gmail.com with your entry. YOU are responsible for entering your work

directly to the contests unless its stated otherwise. Entry fees for any contests are your responsibility.

• BE proactive! Don’t wait until the last minute to do one!
• REMEMBER: yes, you’re an NAHS member and that will be on your activities lists for college, but all
• f these individual things that you do, can also be separately acknowledged especially for teachers

writing recommendation letters!

CAN’T DO A CONTEST?

• Bring your portfolio to a college portfolio review- spring reviews

will be starting in February for most schools.

• Exhibit your work- create quality work that is displayed in the

school or find another means of exhibiting.

SPRING SEMESTER

EARNING HOURS

• If you have a busy schedule please be advised that a) you chose to

participate in NAHS this year, b) we all have busy schedules c) you can make the hours work around your schedule if you don’t procrastinate.

• Yes there are hours at after school meetings about 2x per month.

You can sign up to come to these and they count. If you can’t make it to an after school session for your hours, look at the other

• ptions! These may be art making on your own, going to

museums, doing an art field trip, doing art week stuff during school hours, doing ceiling tiles and accruing hours that way, making cards at home, etc.

INVITATIONS WILL GO OUT LAST WEEK OF FEB.

INDUCTION CEREMONY

• After the 5 hours have been reviewed, invitations will go out to

new members and seniors.

• The ceremony is March 21st at 7pm caf. A. SAVE THIS DATE.
• You will have to rsvp to the ceremony in a timely fashion.
• There is a guest artist speaker and food.
• There is a mandatory induction meeting - see your sheet.

PRESENTED AT SENIOR AWARDS

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

• NAHS will be giving a $500 scholarship to a deserving senior

member.

• Criteria is being finalized.
• Possible application process.
• Keep in mind you need to maintain a good average in your art

class, and keep your hours maintained. Those will be basics of the criteria.

SELLING AT MOTHERS DAY PLANT SALE/SPRING CONCERTS

SPRING CRAFT IDEAS

• Painted mason jars as rustic chic flower holders
• Mounting the jars to palette wood
• Palette sign and stencil painting
• Valentines day, Mothers day, Father’s Day cards
• Possibly some flower pots too.

WINTER WONDERLAND PAINTING JAN. 31ST

WORKSHOPS

• Paint a small wintery scene in an open painting studio (you can

bring your own reference.)

CEILING TILES

• If you did a tile for Semester 1, it was due prior to Dec. break.
• Please make sure your tile is complete.
• It is recommended if you are doing something with a figure and it

includes a face, or portrait, please add in the face do not leave it blank!

• New tiles will be offered once these are installed.
• You need to show me a sketch within a week of todays date

before you begin.

DUE JAN. 31

PHONES FOR HOPE

• The phones for hope suicide prevention hotline awareness will be

due Jan. 31

• They will be on display and we will hold a reception date TBA
• Artisans club will be making messages of hope to be installed

along with the phones.

• If anyone would like to make a message of hope 2D artwork that

can also earn you an hour.
