slide-11
SLIDE 11

WHY APPLY?

Increased capacity through network partnerships Long term revenue by selling electricity to the grid Support Alberta’s energy transition Job creation, economic development, and community resilience

slide-12
SLIDE 12

WHAT IS COMMUNITY GENERATION?

Distribution-connected renewable or alternative energy system that provides community benefits

  • Allows communities to

participate in energy projects through full or partial ownership

  • Gives Albertans access to

renewable energy and generate revenue by selling electricity to the grid

slide-13
SLIDE 13

SMALL SCALE GENERATION REGULATION

  • Reduces barriers for distribution-connected community

electricity generation

  • Outlines rules and definitions around set-up and operation of a

project

  • All projects must be in compliance to these regulations
  • Size is only limited by capacity of local distribution network

(approx. max of 25 MW)

slide-14
SLIDE 14

FUNDING

  • MCCAC is investing up to $7 million
  • Alberta Innovates is investing up to $3 million
  • Total of $10 million in funding for one or multiple projects
  • The municipality / SME Network partners are expected to

contribute financially to the project in an amount 25% or more of the AI contribution
