Adjusting to Flexible Water Delivery

• Changing from a 24 hour based system to a flexible

delivery system.

• Efficient irrigation/farming does not always work based on

24 hours at a time.

• IID has been on a 30 year transition from 24 hour order

“only” system to a more flexible 12/24 hour order system.

dramatically as farmers strive for efficiency.

• >300,000 acre-feet returned annually from 12-hour deliveries
• Delivery flexibility requires increased operational reservoir

storage and lateral interties to manage returned water
