What is a Maximum Card ? The Maximum Card is the one which contains a Picture Postcard, a Postage Stamp affixed on the picture side of the card and a Cancellation on it and should confirm maximum possible concordance between : a) The Postage Stamp a) The Postage Stamp b) The Picture of the Postcard c) The Cancellation
Maximum cards contains three Elements Cancellation Postage Stamp Picture Post Card All the above Three Elements should have maximum possible concordance
The Picture Post Card The picture post card must, if possible must be in sale on/or before the issue of the stamp Square or Rectangular shape available on the market are accepted Size allows them to be laid out on a sheet to the A4 format (210 x 297 mm) at a rate of two per sheet (210 x 297 mm) at a rate of two per sheet It is strictly prohibited to reduce the size of a picture postcard by cutting it Postcards reproducing the image of postage stamp are forbidden Picture in the post card should cover at least 75% of the card Picture Postcards with multiple pictures as well as one’s with holograms are forbidden

The Stamp Only one stamp (or the souvenir sheet it belongs to) should be affixed Stamp should be in perfect condition When the Image is spread out on several se-tenant stamps the set can be used If a stamp has multiple images, any one of the image can be used Commemorative, Definitive or Personalised stamp should be affixed Postage-due stamps, pre-cancels, revenue stamps, stamps violating the "UPU (Universal Postal Union) philatelic code of ethics“ are not allowed Labels dispensed by automatic vending machines can be used The postage stamp (or the souvenir sheet it belongs to, if it is stuck on the postcard) must not exceed a quarter of the postcard area

The Cancellation The cancellation must be printed exclusively by the authorized postal service The pictorial design of the cancellation should coincide with the image of the Picture Post Card and the Postage Stamp Place of cancellation (name of the Post office) should have a connection with the subject of the Postage Stamp and the connection with the subject of the Postage Stamp and the Picture Post Card “The first day cancellation” can be used when it is in accordance with the above conditions The cancellation must be carried out within the period of validity of the postage stamp and as close as possible to the date of issue of the stamp
Not Appropriate Materials Any other materials which does not confirm to the regulations mentioned before is considered has ‘Not Appropriate Materials’ Only square and rectangular formats of Picture Post Cards are allowed; all others are excluded allowed; all others are excluded The following items cannot be used for maximum cards Collages, cut-outs, private photographs on photo paper, colour or black and white photocopies, photo-montages, drawings, photos printed privately on photo paper using computers

Can I Use Maximum Cards in my Thematic Exhibit ? It is better to avoid using Maximum Cards in Thematic If you are adamant in using it you have to keep the following in mind 1. The cancellation must be of Pictorial Type 1. The cancellation must be of Pictorial Type 2. The picture post card must give extra features that can not be easily seen or find in the Postage Stamp If you use them otherwise, it will be considered as a gap filler and your marks will be reduced

PHQ Cards PHQ (Post Office Headquarters) cards are picture postcards issued by the British Post Office depicting the designs of their Commemorative Stamps. These can’t be used to create Maximum Cards
