Why Martindale Park?

  • Martindale area is an isolated neighbourhood
  • No other splash pads nearby
  • A ‘neighbourhood’ park with little amenities
  • A minor splash pad would serve the local neighbourhood
  • An opportunity to make other improvements such as

accessibility, pathway, shrub and tree planting

What we’ve heard

  • I live in the area but it is too far to walk, will there be

parking? The town is contemplating options to permit some 1-2 hour

  • n-street parking during the summer.
  • Will the splash pad take up a lot of parkland?

The splash pad is quite compact, and the large open space in the middle of the park will remain.

  • Will any trees be removed?

Only one concept requires the relocation of 2 small trees.

What we’ve heard

  • What about college students using the park after

hours? College students have access to the school property through public parks, trails and walkway blocks during the day. The park closes at dusk. As in all parks, the town will continue to enforce by-laws.
