Association of Marina Industries • The Association of Marina Industries (AMI) was formed in 2005 by the Merger of MOAA and IMI • International Marina Institute (IMI) was formed in 1985 in Rhode Island to train and certify marina managers • Marina Operators Association of America (MOAA) was formed in 1992 to advocate for a domestic legislative and regulatory agenda • AMI Represents over 1,000 members in the United States and abroad • AMI is supported by a full time staff based in Rhode Island

AMI’s Overall Strategic Goals Ensure AMI is recognized nationally as the expert and voice for the marina industry AMI is the recognized worldwide source of information about the marina industry Ensure that the International Marina and Boatyard Conference ( IMBC) continues to be THE marina industry event that all owners, operators and vendors, both domestic and international, must attend Provide, high level, professional training and certification opportunities to the marina industry

AMI’s affiliate program • How it works: • Open to state and regional trade associations • Offers a bulk membership discount to all of WMA’s M arinas • Discount depends on all of WMA’s M arinas joining AMI at once and renew annually • Instead of paying AMI individual membership dues ($300 to $550), pay a reduced fee (generally 60% discount) as part of the affiliate program • Why are we doing this? • Our goal is to grow membership so that our industry has a louder voice at the federal level • Fine print • Does not include vendors or marinas that are part of a corporate membership • Existing individual AMI marina members are eligible to join through the affiliate program

Join the Marina Industry’s leading and nd onl nly na natio iona nal a l adv dvoca cate te gro roup • Track federal legislation and agency actions • Access to LobbyIt, US Federal lobbying services • Participate in national dialogue with industry partners • AMI is a member of the Outdoor Recreation Industry Roundtable (ORIR) • Identify and track state actions that are marina/boating: • Partner with affiliate MTAs to take action • Lend national support to provide leverage • Maintain direct and independent contact with key federal groups & agencies

For example… • Working with state MTAs to monitor and comment on 2020 National Electric Code update process • Along with NMMA, state MTAs submitted letters on the importance of rebuilding boating infrastructure • Working with partners (like BoatUS) to provide information to the EPA, in regards to antifouling bottom coatings • Supporting programs that are developing a new process to recycle “end of life” fiberglass vessels • Working with LobbyIt on “ BUILDs Act” – to provide support to marine career and technical education programs

Re Return rn on i on inv nvestmen ment • You pay a discounted rate • Be eligible for $1,000 of scholarship money • Attend the IMM and understand OSHA’s ladder requirements (29 CFR 1962) and avoid a $7,000 fine • Learn how to Receive up to a $25,000 “BIG” grant • See Insurance savings based on Risk Management training of up to $2,500 plus per year • Save $500 (per employee) if you attend Intermediate training course • Save $300 (per employee) if you attend the SE Study tour plus attend FLIBs for free
