Highlights & Reflections

  • Increased accountability grade from F in 2012 - 2017 to C in 2018
  • Added a 2nd Math Coach/Interventionist & 2 Cognitive Intervention

Specialists this year

  • Extended day by 30 minutes in the a.m. for all students
  • Increased family engagement - Madison STEAM Academy has an active

PTO group for the first time in a decade

  • Partnership with South Bend Housing Authority to support parents as

partners in education for our most at-risk students

  • Partnership with Culinary Cultivate provides additional nutrition to

students on the weekend

  • Focus 2018 increased instructional day as planned to support

sustainability after the SIG, but also included some challenges: ○ Increased enrollment by 176 students ○ 56% of students are new to Madison this year ○ Extended elementary day resulted in loss of PD and collaboration after school ○ New teachers, EP licenses
