Eshel grew up in an abusive family with a violent father and

  • siblings. Violated many times -

sexually abused from age 8 yrs

  • n ,

e m o t i o n a l l y a n d psychologically neglected, she left home early at the age of 15 yrs just to find herself in a more hopeless and destructive situation

  • n the street.

The abuse and violence continued later in live in marriage and after the divorce with different boy friends. Because of poverty she was not able to take care for the children, who got taken away from her by the government and put into a boarding school. Her life was without real perspective from the beginning and after she lost her children she literally ended up out on the streets again. She did some vocational training in accounting but never really finished her school education or vocational training. This makes it more complicated to take care of herself and the children. Her goal is to get more healing and find inner strength, so that she can get her children back and would be able to take better care of them. She wants to become a good mother and wants to be there for her children. Also she wants to take vocational training to learn a profession. A psychologist from Machaseh makes psychological tests and an

find out her skills. She is receiving now Pastoral Counseling at Machaseh as well as legal and social assistance. She gets also help with food, clothes and rent.

Elad H. From Darkness to Light

Elad is a lovely newly wed young man. He got born into a life with no perspective: His Jewish Orthodox parents got divorced when he was still very young. He and his 3 brothers were given into foster care when his mother remarried because the new stepfather didnʼt want to have the children around. When he was 16 his

  • lder brother got a job and took him to

live with him. But they didnʼt managed well and became drug addicts and

  • dealer. Their live went downhill. With

the help of a social worker he got into a rehab center and got off the drugs. Then he finished his school education. At the age of 24 he moved together with a girl friend. They lived together for 1 year and made about 40,000 NIS

  • f debts. Then the girl left him behind

with all the debts. In one year he managed to pay off his debts - working two jobs and spent as little money as possible. After attending a program how to handle fear, he was able to make a commitment and married one year ago his new girl friend, who suffers of

  • epilepsy. He is now in a pre-program

to become a social worker and will go soon to university. Elad says: “Once it was horrible, but little by little Iʼm having a normal life. I thank God for everything he has given me.” The fee for schooling is 15,000 NIS per year, what they don’t have. Their budget is very low and they are short every month about 2,000 NIS. Tatjana grew up in a good Orthodox Christian family. She got married at a young age to a husband who had conflicts with the Mafia in the Ukraine which she was unaware of. Her first children were twins. One of them died and the other one was taken right away after birth as ʻsort of paymentʼ from the hospital to the Mafia. This was one of her biggest traumatic experiences and since then she is suffering of depression and many

Because of the trouble with the Mafia the family relocated to Israel, where he bought an apartment. He could not manage live and work here, so he left her with three children and a lot of

  • debts. She still does not know where

he is. She has no contact to him and so far cannot get any help from him. She got divorced without him being present. She lost also the apartment because she was not able to pay for the mortgage with her salary as a nurse. Most of her income is still to pay back debts and she is not able to take fully care of herself and the children. She started to do further vocational training in reflexology but couldnʼt finish because of lack of finances. At the moment she is facing problems with the local authorities who want to take the children from her and to put them into a boarding
