  2. WHO WE ARE ERIC , FERNANDA , NOAH AND IAN FIRMAN Eric is from Cardiff by the Sea . He is a mechanical contractor with 20 years of experience in every aspect of residential and commercial construction concerning air and water . Fernanda was born in Brazil where she got her bachelors degree in architecture and urban design as well as her masters degree in lighting design . She has worked in the industry since 1999 . They both understand construction standards and how a building has a direct impact in people ' s health . "We realized that most people are unaware of how their habits and the buildings they are in adversely affect their health. So our business is focused on educating and helping people live well indoors by providing clean air and pure water."

  3. 1 . WHAT IS INDOOR AIR QUALITY Indoor Air Quality ( IAQ ) refers to the air quality within and around buildings and structures , especially as it relates to the health and comfort of building occupants . Understanding and controlling common pollutants indoors can help reduce your risk of indoor health concerns . Sick Building Syndrome and Well Buildings are the new term that is now part of our vocabulary . SULISS WATER + AIR

  4. 2 . WHY IS INDOOR AIR QUALITY SO IMPORTANT We take about 25 . 000 breaths a day . Now I want to think about what you did today , yesterday and what you will do tomorrow . You probably woke up and went to work , or maybe dropped your kids in school and went to the gym before you went home . Is today a grocery day ? Went to the doctor ? Got your nails done ? Now usually how much of your day was spent outside ? Indoor air pollution has a huge impact on our lives and EPA says that pollution inside can be 5x worse than outside . According to WHO ( the World Health Organization ) “ even relatively low concentrations of air pollutants have been related to a range of adverse health effects .” SULISS WATER + AIR

  5. WHAT DO YOU SEE ? This is my son Ian . He is 3 and he is taking his daily nap . His teacher sent me this picture trying to put a smile in my face . His school had just changed all the carpets . The first thing that comes to my mind is Formaldehyde and Dust . They also use Lysol to clean their mats , tables and chairs , air fresheners and the list goes on . Our kids spend so much time in school and we have no idea what are the products or building materials they are being exposed to . We need to raise awareness at the schools and propose solutions to protect our loved ones . SULISS WATER + AIR

  6. WE SPEND ABOUT 90 % OF OUR TIME INDOORS 03 . FACTS INDOOR AIR QUALITY IS 5X WORSE THAN OUTDOOR ( EPA ) 3000 CASES OF CANCER ARE CAUSED BY EXPOSURE TO INDOOR AIR POLLUTANTS EVERY YEAR 50 % OF ALL ILLNESS ARE CAUSED OR AGGRAVATED BY POLLUTED INDOOR AIR 90 % OF COLDS AND FLUS ARE CAUGHT INDOORS AND ONLY 19 % OUTDOORS CARBON MONOXIDE IS THE LEADING CAUSE OF ACCIDENTAL POISON DEATHS IN NORTH AMERICA THE AVERAGE AMOUNT A U . S . HOME WILL COLLECT 40 POUNDS OF DUST . IN A YEAR . THERE HAS BEEN AN ALARMING INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF CHILDREN WITH SEVERE ALLERGIES AND ASTHMA . THE EPA HAS RANKED INDOOR AIR POLLUTION AMONG THE TOP FIVE ENVIRONMENTAL DANGERS . PETS ARE GETTING DISEASES AND CANCER IN AN ALARMING RATE SULISS WATER + AIR

  7. 4 . SOURCES OF INDOOR AIR POLLUTION Combustion sources : gas , oil , fireplaces , smoke Outdoor sources : radon , pesticides , pollen , outdoor air pollution Volatile organic compounds – Carpets , furniture , cabinetry , building materials ( insulation ), paint , FOOD COOKED in high temperature Household chemicals – Cleaning products , air - fresheners , personal care products such as hairspray and cosmetics , and glues used in hobbies and crafts can all be respiratory irritants . Natural sources – Other common environmental contaminants are virus , mold , mildew , dust and pet dander . WATER - YES SULISS WATER + AIR

  8. 5 . WHY IS WATER AN AIR POLLUTENT The companies that provide us our water do a great job making our water safe … safe meaning we aren ’ t going to get sick today or tomorrow with a potentially fatal stomach virus or diarrhea . There are still a vast number of potentially unsafe and nuisance type elements still left in the water that we are exposed to that our water treatment companies are not able to help us with that affect us over time . That is why filtering the water before it gets in the home is always recommended to avoid exposure to the following : Microbial Contaminants : virus and bacteria Inorganic Contaminants : salt and metals Pesticides and Herbicides Pharmaceuticals Organical Chemical Contaminats : Syntetic and VOC chemicals Radioactive Contaminants Disinfectants and Disisfectants by products SULISS WATER + AIR
