1. New buildings and infrastructure should be sympathetic in style to the existing environment. 2. Views and panoramas of the surrounding countryside should be maintained and where possible improved. 3. New homes should be built to, at least, London space standards, preferably larger. 4. The exterior of new houses and flats should be mainly brick. 5. The colour of brickwork should be in keeping with existing buildings 6. Houses should be a mix of two and three stories high. 7. The style and colour of roof tiles and slates should be in keeping with the majority of existing houses. 8. Houses should be provided with good sized gardens (large enough to allow several children to play in). 9. Blocks of new flats should be no more that 4 stories high 10. Balconies should be inset into new blocks of flats, not protruding from them. 11. Windows for both flats and houses should be, mainly, Georgian in Style with white surrounds. 12. Where possible symmetry of style of windows and construction of buildings should be maintained. 13. The development should minimise the number of cul-de-sacs. 14. Telecoms infrastructure should be based on fibre to the home and provided through ducting, not via telephones poles. 15. Access to, and sign posting of, public rights of way should be prominent, simple and clear 16. Wherever possible existing trees should be left in-situ. Any trees that need removing should be replaced by at least the same number of new trees elsewhere on the site.
Note – additional specific guidelines for main NIMR building may be needed, if it is redeveloped into flats .

Mill Hill Broadway station has a security problem. Anyone can park under the motorway. Consider a car bomb placed there. It would take out the M1, the Thameslink line, and most of the shops opposite. The answer is to move the shops under the motorway and the car park to where the shops were. Does anyone bother to check the cars parked under the motorway now? I doubt it as police and security are conspicuous by their absence
