LCRA UAS Program Background
- August 2014 - Initial Business Case Submitted
- February 2015 – Began working with FAA on gaining flight authorizations
- July 2015 - Purchased first aircraft
- FAA Approvals
– November/December 2015: Received FAA authorization to fly 4 LCRA owned sites in central and south Texas – April 2016: Received “333 Exemption” from FAA – May 2016: Received “BLANKET COA” (Certificate Of Authorization) from FAA which gave authorization to fly throughout the United States within G airspace and under 400 feet
- FAA Part 107 – Passed in June of 2016 and went into effect August of 2016
