every month by 10 blood samples.

  • A Salmonella index is calculated based on the last 3

months.

  • If the index is more than 5, the herd has to investigate

feces samples for salmonella.

  • Furthermore they have to pay a fee for each sold pig.

  • The results are classified as positive if OD% ≥ 20 and

negative if the OD % < 20

  • The herds are classified in 3 levels depending of the

results based on the last 3 months.

  • The level 2 and 3 has to report the supplier of
  • weaners. This herd has to investigate feces samples.

  • Breeding and multiplying herds with high salmonella
