Insulbloc Features & Benefits

  • Insulbloc Cavity Wall Insulation can be installed down the wall, often with minimal disturbance to the facade whilst

guaranteeing complete coverage. A brick may need to be removed and replaced under wide windows that don’t go to floor level. Insulbloc’s down the wall installation process of achieving complete coverage has been confirmed by independent consultants using thermal imaging techniques. No weight or pressure on plasterboard linings.

  • mineral wool & expanding foams need a close pattern of holes drilled through the wall to help achieve complete
  • coverage. Narrow cavities require a closer pattern of holes. These alternative forms of retrofit wall insulation if

installed ‘down the cavity’ have a history of poor coverage with anecdotal evidence of gaps of up to 30%

LESS PERMANENT DISTURBANCE TO WALLS EASE OF INSTALLATION BETTER COVERAGE

Insulbloc Features & Benefits

MOISTURE PROOFING YOUR CAVITY WALL

 Insulbloc is made from the most hydrophobic product,

polystyrene, to guarantee no transfer of moisture across properly maintained wall cavities.

 Complete coverage reduces the chance of moisture transfer

across the wall cavity

 Insulbloc is 50 times more vapour resistant than mineral wool

BEWARE

Rockwool is no longer made in Australia and there is anecdotal evidence that there is cheap mineral wool being imported from Asia that is not as hydrophobic as is should be. If in doubt, get a sample tested, don't rely on fake test results.

Insulbloc Features & Benefits Long term maintenance

  • f insulation rating

Settlement of insulation will result in gaps and the reduction in effective insulation rating. 5% gaps in insulation coverage can cut the thermal rating in half. Insulbloc exhibits zero settlement due to the installation process and its high compressive strength.

Insulbloc’s insulation rating is less affected by moisture. 1.5% moisture content caused by water vapour reduces fibreglass and mineral wool insulating rating by up to 50% while only affecting polystyrene by approximately 10%. As well, Insulbloc is less likely to become moist as it is 50 times more moisture resistant than mineral wool.

Insulbloc Features & Benefits

Health and Safety

 Insulbloc, being polystyrene, is resistant to fungi and bacteria which can lead sick

building syndrome.

 Insulbloc is vermin resistant and less likely to allow large vermin like rats and mice

to live in the wall cavity.

 Insulbloc is more moisture vapour resistant resulting in less free moisture

accumulating in the wall cavities reducing the chance of sick building syndrome and timber degradation (which can happen in insulated and uninsulated walls due to the presence of moisture).

 Insulbloc is inert with no off gassing of toxic fumes and burns with the same toxicity

as wood.

 Insulbloc does not contain any formaldehydes or mineral wool particles.  Zero Spread of Flame Fire Rating. Made from fire retarded polystyrene

Insulbloc Features & Benefits

Environmental Benefits

 Made from 100% recycled fire retarded polystyrene  Made in Australia  Relatively easy to remove from cavity wall (with

vacuum equipment) for recycling, compared to alternative retrofit insulation products

 Non-toxic  Can be re-used in landfill to improve drainage

properties and moisture retention

 Higher Insitu Insulation Rating results in less

energy consumption by the householder
