INTRODUCTION ¡ René ¡Moawad ¡Founda*on ¡(RMF) ¡is ¡a ¡Lebanese ¡ non-­‑profit, ¡non-­‑poli*cal, ¡non-­‑sectarian ¡ organiza*on ¡that ¡was ¡established ¡on ¡November ¡ 22, ¡1991 ¡two ¡years ¡aPer ¡President ¡René ¡Moawad’s ¡ assassina*on, ¡who ¡was ¡elected ¡President ¡of ¡the ¡ Lebanese ¡Republic ¡on ¡November ¡5, ¡1989 ¡and ¡ killed ¡17 ¡days ¡later . ¡ President ¡René ¡Moawad ¡believed ¡in ¡a ¡strong ¡and ¡ democra*c ¡state ¡and ¡fought ¡for ¡a ¡progressive ¡and ¡ modern ¡Lebanon, ¡a ¡peaceful ¡Lebanon, ¡which ¡ embraces ¡the ¡values ¡of ¡democracy, ¡human ¡rights, ¡ modera*on ¡and ¡pluralism. ¡RMF ¡was ¡founded ¡to ¡ implement ¡his ¡vision. ¡

EDUCATION ¡& ¡HUMAN ¡DEVELOPMENT ¡ EducaAon ¡is ¡a ¡core ¡pillar ¡of ¡the ¡FoundaAon. ¡ RMF ¡ focuses ¡ its ¡ educa*onal ¡ ac*vi*es ¡ on ¡ the ¡ most ¡ pressing ¡ needs ¡ of ¡ the ¡ Lebanese ¡ youth. ¡ By ¡ working ¡ on ¡ issues ¡ such ¡ as ¡ literacy, ¡ remedial ¡ classes, ¡ psychosocial ¡ support, ¡life-­‑skills, ¡extracurricular ¡ac*vi*es, ¡voca*onal ¡and ¡ technical ¡ educa*on, ¡ ¡ RMF ¡ empowers ¡ these ¡ youths ¡ towards ¡ a ¡ brighter ¡ future. ¡ ¡ ¡ RMF ¡ also ¡ works ¡ on ¡ the ¡ rehabilita*on ¡ of ¡ educa*onal ¡ infrastructure, ¡ because ¡ a ¡ proper ¡educa*onal ¡environment ¡is ¡crucial ¡for ¡learning. ¡ ¡ RMF's ¡ educa*onal ¡ ac*vi*es ¡ are ¡ delivered ¡ through ¡ the ¡ Founda*on's ¡established ¡centers, ¡and ¡through ¡individual ¡ donor-­‑supported ¡projects ¡. ¡

EDUCATION ¡& ¡HUMAN ¡DEVELOPMENT ¡ RMF’s ¡Established ¡Centers: ¡ • Bab ¡el ¡T ebbaneh-­‑Tripoli ¡ RMF ¡Center ¡for ¡Educa*on ¡& ¡Protec*on ¡Services ¡helps ¡around ¡ 140 ¡working ¡children ¡and ¡their ¡families ¡each ¡year . ¡It ¡helps ¡ prevent ¡children ¡from ¡dropping ¡out ¡of ¡school, ¡provides ¡life ¡ skills ¡and ¡psychosocial ¡support. ¡ • Rene ¡Moawad ¡T echnical ¡InsAtute-­‑Mejdlaya ¡ ¡ Joint ¡ venture ¡ with ¡ the ¡ Ministry ¡ of ¡ Educa*on ¡ and ¡ Higher ¡ Educa*on. ¡ ¡It ¡provides ¡a ¡range ¡of ¡technical ¡special*es ¡and ¡ varying ¡degree ¡cer*fica*ons ¡to ¡help ¡young ¡people ¡find ¡jobs. ¡ The ¡Ins*tute ¡organized ¡classes ¡and ¡training ¡for ¡ ¡750 ¡students ¡ this ¡ year , ¡ with ¡ 450 ¡ full-­‑*me ¡ agendees, ¡ and ¡ around ¡ 300 ¡ Syrians ¡on ¡an ¡ad-­‑hoc ¡training ¡basis. ¡ • Etoile ¡Du ¡Nord ¡Kindergarten-­‑Mejdlaya ¡ ¡ ¡ Provides ¡ pre-­‑educa*onal ¡ founda*on ¡ for ¡ young ¡ children, ¡ focusing ¡ on ¡ cri*cal ¡ skills ¡ such ¡ as ¡ reading, ¡ wri*ng, ¡ and ¡ communica*on. ¡ Also ¡ engaging ¡ young ¡ children ¡ and ¡ their ¡ families ¡in ¡the ¡community ¡with ¡fun ¡and ¡entertaining ¡ac*vi*es. ¡ ¡
