Something for everyone: For students who have studied the language to a high level at GCSE:- IB Higher: French, German, Spanish IB Standard: French, German, Spanish, Russian A level: French, German, Spanish, Italian Or for those without language to GCSE: Ab Initio: Italian, Spanish, Chinese*, Japanese* (Chinese or Japanese Ab Initio requires some prior knowledge) Introductory : Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Russian and Spanish - Lower Sixth only Other courses may run depending on demand All IB courses are for two years

Matriculation
The general matriculation requirement for the Sixth Form is 5 A*-C, including grade 5 or above in English. Additional requirements for each route are:
- A Level Route (A) – the majority of A levels require a minimum of a grade B (grade
6) in the subject to be studied at A Level (or related subject)
- AIB Route (AIB) - minimum grade B (grade 6) in the subject to be studied at A
Level (or related subject), and grade C (grade 5) at IB Standard
- IB Career Route (IBC) – minimum grade B (grade 6) in the subject to be studied at
A Level (grade C/5 for Applied A Level), and grade C (grade 5) at IB Standard
- IB Diploma Route (IBD) – minimum grade B (grade 6) in the subject to be studied
at Higher Level, grade C (grade 5) at IB Standard Note: Other matriculation requirements may be required for individual subjects, check Sixth Form Subject pages on our website IB Standards are 2 year courses

The Application Process
Phase 1 AES Year 11 Parents’ Evening – Thursday 10th November 2016 Sixth Form application deadline – Friday 18th November 2016 (application form available online) Phase 2 AES Year 11 students – January Course Counselling interviews New Applicants – interviews December/January Timetable ‘best fit’ – any clashes discussed in March Lower Sixth Induction Day – 26th June 2017 Final Course Counselling – 25th August 2017
