HOMEWORK SURVEY SUMMARY

  • In February and March of 2019, Hillside students, teachers, and parents had the
  • pportunity to respond to surveys about homework
  • The majority of participants saw value in homework
  • 76.4% of parent respondents reported that homework has some or many benefits
  • 59% of teacher respondents reported that homework is somewhat or very valuable
  • 62% of student respondents reported generally positive or neutral feelings about

homework

  • There was a general consensus that homework reinforces skills learned at

school and can also serve as an important vehicle for communication between home and school

HILLSIDE HOMEWORK SURVEY

  • Surveys were administered to Hillside parents, students, and teachers
  • 94% of Hillside students responded to the survey (587/625)
  • 372 Hillside parents responded to the survey and there are 489 families at Hillside
  • If only one parent per family participated, the family response rate is 76%
  • If every family had two parents, the parent response rate would be 38%
  • The truth is almost definitely somewhere in between
  • Approximately 98% of Hillside teachers responded to the survey (39/40)
