  2. Project Overview Excavation location (sewer repair) • Important project to revitalize some of the District’s oldest sewers • Relining of approximately 5,600 linear feet of affected sewer pipe • Sewer damaged from corrosion • Trenchless rehabilitation to limit impact (accessing sewer via area manholes) • Excavation will be needed at one location for sewer repair: Between 3318 & 3320 O Street NW • Overall project Duration is 420 days • Construction schedule-see project information sheet 2

  5. O Street Excavation Open Cut Excavation Location • Estimated Size: 10 ’L x 12 ’ W x 20 ’D • Construction Schedule: 5/30/17-7/6/17 (subject to change) • Parking spaces: +6 per side (+12 total) • Trolley Tracks: No Impact ( Remain in Place) • Paving materials: Salvaged and reused • Contractor: Masonry and historic preservation experience 5

  6. Impacts of O Street Open Cut Excavation • Road closure during excavation • Lane closure and parking lane closure during sewer repair • Discharge piping at ground level • Potential security considerations during work at this location • Effort underway to avoid open cut excavation (TBD by 5/10/17)

  7. Mitigation Efforts • Protection of trees and shrubbery in the construction zone • Monitoring of noise and vibration levels • Coordination of construction/restoration activities with other area projects and stakeholders * Hyde-Addison Elementary School Modernization Project * Georgetown University • Installation of temporary piping system inside existing sewer to allow for continuous flow (also known as the Flume technique)

  8. Key Site Restoration Requirements • Pavement bricks that are temporarily removed from the sidewalk and parking lane between 3318 and 3320 O Street during the sewer repair will be carefully marked (numbered) to ensure proper replacement, and they will be safely stored at an off-site location. Once the repair is completed, the bricks will be returned and carefully restored in accordance with design specifications under the DDOT O and P Streets Rehabilitation Project • Extensive pre-construction and post-construction photo documentation 8
