  2. Who we are? The core of our team started to play ice hockey in 1979 in Budapest on a home-made yard rink. We participated on our first amateur contest in 1986 in the biggest sports hall in Hungary at that time. Later more players preferred soccer to ice hockey and we only started to play hockey again as adults. Our current team was founded four years ago in 2006 . We mainly play on ½ rink (3-man hockey) and sometimes (if number of players allow) ’true’ hockey with 5 players on the full rink in each team. Most of our players never though hockey and begun to play as an adult. Some of us played as a kid and we have 3 players who were member of the U-18 Team Hungary. Average age of our players is 35 years. The next phase in the development of our team begun when the first sponsor: DHL Global Forwarding joined our team from the 2006/2007 season. This enabled us to become a ’real’ hockey club: eg. we could order team jersays and could participate on more contests. In 2007 we launched our third weekly training and more and more people started to join the team: from other amatuer teams and also enthusiast hockey-dads. In 2008 we opened our website (blog) and ordered new set of jerseys and apparel. In 2009 our team won the most prestigious amateur trophy (Marczi Skate Cup) and for the second year we organized the PUSE In-house Hockey Cup. Although the Marczi Skate Cup was not held in 2010 , we won another trophy: PUSE finshed 1st on the first-ever organized cup at the brand new rink at Marczibányi Square.

  3. Our goals and plans: The focus for our team is playing for fun in a freidly atmosphere keeping the principle of ’fair play’ first. Besides training twice a week we would like to participate on several contests during the season to further develop our individual skills and team play. Our tranings are not only about the game: we regularly train skating-, puck handling skills, and game situations. If the number of players allow we inted to enroll each competition with two teams: our „A” team would play in division I., while team „B” in div II. among beginners. We make every effort that within our possibilities PUSE became the most professional amateur hockey team: in values, results, outlook, external- and internal communication. In September 2008 our team – as a first participant among amateur teams – has joined the initive of the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation, in which they announced ’The Year of Hungarian Hockey Culture’ for 2009 . The main idea behind the initiative is 1. to respect the result of the national team in 2008 and 2009, and on the other hand (2.) to proove that through sports noble goals can be achieved if sportsmen and fans fight for them toghether in culture. To remember this: all Hungarian teams from rising generation to seniors (with PUSE among them) wear this logo on their helmets. This represents that noble behaviour is more important than momentary advantage.
