– 106 HS Band students made Region 25 All-Region Band, 39 made All-Area and 9 made All-State. – 77 HS Choir students made Region 25 All-Region Choir, 9 made All-Area and 6 made All-State. – 29 HS Orchestra students made Region 25 All- Region Orchestra, 13 made All-Area and 4 made All-State.

• Spring 2019 – MHS Theatre One Act Play, “Sweet

Nothings in My Ear,” advanced to the UIL Regional OAP Contest.

• Summer 2019 – 17 HS Theatre students from MISD

participated in the International Thespian Conference held in Lincoln, Nebraska in June.

• Summer 2019 – Boyd Full Orchestra advanced to the

state round of the 6A TMEA Honor Orchestra Competition and placed 5th overall; Cockrill Honors Band advanced to the State round of the TMEA MS Honor Band Competition and was selected as this year’s TMEA 3C Middle School Honor Band!

Group Success

• 2019 – The Foundation for Music Education “Mark of

Excellence” awarded to the McKinney HS Honors Band, 6A National Wind Band; Cockrill MS Honors Band, 2A National Wind Band; Evans MS Symphonic I Band, 2A Commended Wind Band; McKinney HS Concert Choir, National Choral Ensemble-HS Mixed Choir; and Faubion MS Honors Orchestra, Commended MS String Orchestra.

• July 21, 2020 – MISD/City of McKinney will host a

regional DCI (Drum Corps International) contest in the MISD Stadium.

• 2019 – For the third consecutive year, McKinney ISD

was named as one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation.
