Who We Serve - Elementary 1 certified music & 1 certified art teacher at each campus serving 10,845 students once per week in a 45 to 50 minute class period.

Who We Serve – Middle School • Band – 1,328 student units (11 teachers) • Choir – 978 student units (8 teachers) • Orchestra – 848 student units (8 teachers) • Visual Arts – 1,532 student units (10 teachers) • Theatre Arts – 774 student units (5 teachers) • Totals = 5,460 Student Units (42 teachers) • Totals = 4,584 Unique MS Students

Who We Serve – High School • Band – 703 student units (11 teachers) • Choir – 523 student units (6 teachers) • Orchestra – 451 student units (5 teachers) • Visual Arts – 1,586 student units (11.5 teachers) • Theatre Arts – 696 student units (7 teachers) • Dance – 369 student units (5 teachers) • Totals = 4,328 Student Units (45.5 teachers) • Totals = 3,722 Unique HS Students

Secondary Fine Arts Enrollment • Band – 2,031 student units, 22 teachers • Choir – 1,501 student units, 14 teachers • Dance – 369 student units, 5 teachers • Orchestra – 1,299 student units, 13 teachers • Theatre Arts – 1,470 student units, 13 teachers • Visual Arts (Non AP & AP) – 3,118 student units, 21.5 teachers • AP Art History/Music Theory – 157 student units Totals = 9,945 Student Units, 87.5 teachers Totals = 8,340 Unique Secondary Students

Secondary Fine Arts Enrollment • Total Fine Arts Enrollment – 8,340 Unique Students • Secondary Total Student Population -13,658 students • 61 % of all secondary students are involved in fine arts!

Individual Success • Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-Region Middle School Band, Choir and Orchestra - 79 MS Band students made 2019-20 Region 25 All-Region Band. - 77 MS Choir students made 2018-19 Region 25 All-Region Choir. - 33 MS Orchestra students made the 2019-20 Region 25 All-Region Orchestra.

Individual Success • Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-Region High School Band, Choir and Orchestra – 106 HS Band students made Region 25 All-Region Band, 39 made All-Area and 9 made All-State. – 77 HS Choir students made Region 25 All-Region Choir, 9 made All-Area and 6 made All-State. – 29 HS Orchestra students made Region 25 All- Region Orchestra, 13 made All-Area and 4 made All-State. 19 All-State Musicians From MISD!

Group Success • Spring 2019 – MHS Theatre One Act Play, “Sweet Nothings in My Ear,” advanced to the UIL Regional OAP Contest. • Summer 2019 – 17 HS Theatre students from MISD participated in the International Thespian Conference held in Lincoln, Nebraska in June. • Summer 2019 – Boyd Full Orchestra advanced to the state round of the 6A TMEA Honor Orchestra Competition and placed 5 th overall; Cockrill Honors Band advanced to the State round of the TMEA MS Honor Band Competition and was selected as this year’s TMEA 3C Middle School Honor Band!

Group Success • 2019 – The Foundation for Music Education “Mark of Excellence” awarded to the McKinney HS Honors Band, 6A National Wind Band; Cockrill MS Honors Band, 2A National Wind Band; Evans MS Symphonic I Band, 2A Commended Wind Band; McKinney HS Concert Choir, National Choral Ensemble-HS Mixed Choir; and Faubion MS Honors Orchestra, Commended MS String Orchestra. • July 21, 2020 – MISD/City of McKinney will host a regional DCI (Drum Corps International) contest in the MISD Stadium.

Group Success • 2019 – For the third consecutive year, McKinney ISD was named as one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation.
