Avoiding Issues s with A ALEKS (for M Math h 1314 1314)

  • ALEKS objectives do not have to be completed in the order ALEKS

assigns them. If a student is stuck on an objective, they can work on a different objective within that homework assignment.

  • ALEKS homework is NOT OPTIONAL! It should count as part of their

grade in Math 1314.

  • Warn students repeatedly:
  • Knowledge checks determine the amount of HW they are
  • assigned. They need to take them seriously or they will end up

with lots of review assignments that are not needed.

  • Getting behind in ALEKS can cause a “snowball effect”
  • One a HW due date has passed, students can no longer complete

an assignment for a grade, however, they will still have to show mastery on the objectives. This means skipping an objective is a bad idea.
