 Title I provides financial assistance to local educational

agencies, public and charter, to meet the needs of educationally disadvantaged children at preschool, elementary, and secondary school levels.

 Title I is the largest source of federal funds to education. We

receive Title I funds based on the number of low-income families that reside within the district as determined by the US Census.

slide-4
SLIDE 4

 The purpose of Title I programs is to help all students succeed in

reading and mathematics.

 This is accomplished through supplemental programs that

consist of instructional services, instructional support services, school wide reform efforts, and increased involvement of parents in their children’s education.

 Supplanting Rule: Title Funds must be used for services above

and beyond the typical services provided to every school. The district cannot replace an existing service with Title funding.
