TRENDS IN LABOUR MARKET
Economic growth and gains in productivity driven by improvements in skill base and development of new skills. There is an increasing mismatch between the skills that employers need and those developed by individuals through education and training. We need to educate and train people for jobs and technologies which have not yet been invented. The world economy does not pay you for what you know but for what you can do with what you know. Training providers should work with employers to design and deliver training that meets the current and future needs of business. Skills which are easy to teach and assess are also easy to deliver using technology – how should teachers and providers respond to this situation?
