Open to public at other times. Yes 5 Should keep existing historic plaques and keep historic meaning(s) 6 MLK march was started by Douglass School alumni. Douglass School Alumni, NAACP, Bluemont Concert, Bahohi - all help to organize the MLK march. The march ends at DS and utilizes the Gym. There are many activities and would like to continue to have the march end at the school. Having a commercial kitchen would be benefjcial to serve food at this event. Last year there was 1200+ people who attended. Gym use and opportunity forWHAT WE HEARD 3.

The Branch was started in 1940 as a result of the need and outcry for a school for African American students. Though the collaborative efgorts of Charles Hamilton Houston, Thurgood Marshall and Marie Meddley, the Loudoun NAACP Branch was chartered and began the very important work of getting this school for the African American youth. - Rochelle Summer, secretary Loudoun County NAACP dedicated offjce space for NAACP maybe? 2 Legacy of MLK 3 Graduates who have made an impact; served, professionals etc. 4 The community wants to be able to have events such as gatherings after the march, and picnics with no fees. gym space, shared fmex space, kitchen yes 5 Part of larger civil rights history act of courage, persistence. 6 Oliver Hill, John Talbert, Jack Turner, NAACP leaders. Stories behind the school additions. 7 Name of school as act of courage and assertion not just a training school. 8 Legacy and connection to NAACP lawyers and Houston 9 Role in attacking separate but equal fjrst place to launch campaign leading up to Brown vs Bond. 10 Create interpretive markers that tell the history of the building. possible dedicated museum space or incorporate museum space / incorporate into design 11 Restore original layout of the cafeteria. Prior to cafeteria home ed classes would make and sell hot dogs and chocolate milk and there was concession stand in gym/auditorium.
