  7. Meeting Norms • Attendance is expected at all scheduled meetings. • The meetings will start on time with duration of 1-1/2 hours (typical). Group members should be on time and expect to remain for the entire meeting if possible. • The purpose of each meeting will be defined; members are requested to come prepared to discuss the topic. • The students' interests come first. • Committee members will operate and work towards consensus on all issues. All agree to support the solutions and decisions of the group. • Committee members are requested to focus on solutions that address the needs of the School District as a whole. • Committee meetings will stay on task. • Discussion, evaluation, and decisions will be research and data based guided by district’s mission statement. • Minutes of each meeting will be distributed by email within one week of meeting date. • All members are to speak up in an open forum- all points of view will be heard and valued. • All participants will be treated with mutual respect. • Members of the committees will operate on a first name basis. • Snacks and Refreshments will be served at all meetings to give "energy boost."   12. RTA SCHOOL ASSESSMENT FINDINGS 1. Generally school buildings are structurally sound (some cracks identified) 2. Plumbing systems are in poor condition 3. Thermal comfort issues with 2 pipe system 4. Electrical systems are at end of life and inadequate 5. Finishes at the end of their life expectancy 6. Hardware replacement is needed 7. Many buildings have ADA non-compliance (hardware, sinks, fountains, faucets, signage, some accessibility…) 8. The track and football field are in poor condition locker rooms – Plumbing is in poor shape 9. 10. Roofs are in fair shape 11. Some landscape, sidewalk and drainage improvements needed 12. No automated mass notification system 13. Generally no fire sprinkler systems 14. Fire rated corridors are not compliant 15. MIDDLE SCHOOL BUILDING RTA Identified Issues • Non-ADA compliant for door hardware, signage, casework, and toilets • Carpeting and VCT is at the end of its life expectancy • Replacement of ACT ceiling, visible signs of roof leaks • Damage to south exterior wall may be structural • HVAC system is 20 years old and should be replaced • Di-electric unions need to be replaced throughout building • New lighting and controls is recommended throughout buildings 15 Cheraw SD Master Plan

HIGH SCHOOL RTA Overview: • Interior finishes at the end of life; VCT flooring, carpets • Non-ADA compliant door hardware, casework, signage and toilet rooms • A MDF room for the building is needed • No stainless steel kitchen casework and countertops • One-hour fire rating of the corridors has been compromised • HVAC is a two pipe systems which is causing thermal comfort issues • Underdrain system is not fully operational • Switchgear is at the end of it’s life expectancy 16 Cheraw SD Master Plan

  21. ▪ What are Cheraw School District’s Weaknesses?: • No Industrial arts, drafting, catering towards career tech – lose students to pursue at other districts • 35% in-district students – loyalty, commitment level • Heating and cooling in classrooms are hard to regulate – controls, issue for several years • Electrical is inadequate • Plumbing – smells, don’t recommend showering here, visitor lockers bad, lack of use • Elementary classroom sizes are small • Technology • School doesn’t seem welcoming 21 Cheraw SD Master Plan
